Metal lamp shades – Dirty lamps are commonly overlooked in house cleaning rituals, although over time the dust particles accumulate in an unpleasant coating that clings to the lamp and refuses to let go. A dirty lamp can easily become a monstrosity in any given place. Cleaning metal lamps is slightly different than cleaning any other lamp, but this simple task can improve a room in a minimum time.
Unplug the metal lamp shades from the wall and put it on a towel near the sink. Unscrew the bulb and keep it in reserve. Remove the screen. Fill the sink with warm water and add 2 tablespoons of mild soap. Soak a soft, clean cloth in the water and bring it out well. Clean the lamp with the cloth. Rinse the cloth in the sink and continue to clean the cord base until it is clean.
Use paper towels or a clean, dry cloth to dry the metal lamp shades. Fill the sink or tub with warm enough water to cover the screen and add a sufficient amount of soap to make the soap water. Adjust the lamp shade on the water, use a soft bristle brush to gently rub the screen clean. Rinse the screen by immersing it in clean clear water two or three times. Hang the screen to dry by linking a chain in the center of the frame. Suspend it on the shower curtain rod or on a clothesline until it is completely dry.
